Part of the annual Rhythms of China concert series at Millennium Park, the third installment in the year-long series Forces of Nature: The Five Elements Project, a searing musical journey through contemporary and traditional Chinese music, is influenced by the elements of fire and metal. The Five Elements Project: Fire and Metal will feature the World Premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Zhou Long‘s “Fire” and “Metal” movements of his Five Elements for Chamber, a CFAS original commission for the year-long Five Elements Project. Guest artists for the concert include Fifth House Ensemble, pipa instrumentalist and Silk Road Ensemble member Yang Wei, suona player Yazhi Guo, erhu player Tao He, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra violinist Qing Hou and pianist Amy Briggs. The “Fire and Metal” concert is presented at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion of Millennium Park on Sunday, August 10 at 6:00 pm. The concert is free and no tickets are required.
However, a donation of $25 towards the concert will ensure you a ticket to a VIP seat and a gift box, filled with surprise goodies.
