Chinese New Year Celebrations 2018

Please join us in celebrating the Year of the Dog. All of these events are open to the public and free of charge!

Chinese New Year Kick Off at the Chicago Cultural Center

A multi-arts performance featuring Lion dance, Taichi, Mongolian throat singing, the award-winning Flying Fairies dance troupe, and a sneak peak of the Chongqing Chuanju Opera Theater, direct from Sichuan, highlighting the mysterious and thrilling art of mask-changing and Chinese acrobatics. Chinese New Year Lantern Celebration

Art Institute of Chicago (afternoon); Maggie Daley Park (evening)

Bring friends and family for a day of fun to celebrate the Lantern Festival, the last day of the two week Chinese New Year celebration! Enjoy performances inspired by the Art Institute’s newly opened Chinese Bronzes exhibit; design and make some lanterns; and join in a Lion Dance-led lantern procession across the pedestrian bridge from Millennium Park to Maggie Daley Park

Congratulations to all who participated in the 32nd Music Festival in Honor of Confucius!  The prize winners are listed here.  All results are final.

Please come to our Winners Concert on Sunday, April 30 at 2PM in Fullerton Hall at the Art Institute of Chicago!

Orders for Congratulatory messages for the Winners Concert program book may be placed here. Note that these messages can be addressed to teachers and participants in addition to the performers, and 100% of the proceeds go towards to the competition scholarship fund for 2018. We greatly appreciate your support!
