Join The Old Town School of Folk Music and the Chinese Fine Arts Society for an evening concert in celebration of Chinese New Year! Featuring performances by Chinese Zhong Ruan player Tzu-Tsen Wu, The University of Chicago’s Jade Chinese Music Ensemble, and more. Event is free and open to the public but reserving advanced tickets is recommended.

Join CFAS and our friends at the Chicago Philharmonic and the Chinese American Museum of Chicago for a panel discussion on the works of composer Tan Dun, and a performance by the Sound of Wishes Ensemble.
 

This panel discussion is in advance of the Chicago Philharmonic’s January 14 Symphonic Series concert, featuring the North American Premiere of Tan Dun’s Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra (Yi2) with legendary classical guitarist Sharon Isbin.

Leading the discussion is multi-Grammy Award winning classical guitarist Sharon Isbin, who commissioned Yi2 and worked extensively with Tan Dun. Pipa Virtuoso Yang Wei, and rising star cello virtuoso Joshua Roman, who will perform Tan Dun’s Crouching Tiger Concerto, also joins. The conversation will be moderated by Chicago Philharmonic Artistic Director Scott Speck.
