Community Outreach
For more than 25 years, CFAS Outreach activities have included musical programs that introduce traditional Chinese Musical Instruments, such as the Erhu, Pipa, Guzheng, Kong Hu, and Bamboo Flute to new audiences. CFAS also enables young string and piano musicians who have participated in the Music Festival to showcase their talents in many venues so they can share Chinese music with an interested public. Through ensemble as well as the solo performances, audiences quickly learn to appreciate Chinese music.
CFAS visits and brings colorful programs to senior centers, featuring Chinese music and culture from choral music to lion dancers, folk dancers to young musician performances. We even teach seniors to sing in Chinese! For each performance, CFAS produces program notes and explains the lyrics to the audience. Through such efforts the audiences learn and appreciate Chinese Culture.
Over the years, we have participated in events such as the Grand Opening ceremony of the Millennium Park and Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s renovated center. We were invited to participate in the Silk Road in Chicago Project both in Millennium Park and at the Art Institute. By popular demand, we continue to participate in various festivals in the greater Chicago area including the Evanston Arts Festival, Bartlett Arts Festival and the Streamwood Multicultural Festival. In addition, we have participated in many other programs at Northbrook Library, Naperville Library, Chicago Chinatown Library and Westmont Library, Columbia College Cultural Program, senior housing and public school programs as well as many corporate special events.
CFAS presents all programs with pride and in a professional manner. Please contact Mei Lin at 630-372-9658 to schedule an outreach program for your business, event, or festival.
