Overview

The Chinese Fine Arts Society (CFAS) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the State of Illinois in the United States. Founded in 1984, the Chinese Fine Arts Society is dedicated to promoting the appreciation of Chinese culture, enhancing cultural exchange and pursuing excellence in Chinese music, dance and visual arts.

Our mission is summarized in our 3-D principles:

  • To Discover Chinese music and its cultural significance
  • To Develop interest in performing and studying Chinese music and arts
  • To foster success in these artistic endeavors through Determination and Discipline

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    In Chinese mythology, dragons are considered auspicious creatures believed to control rain, hurricanes, and bodies of water. Used throughout history as a symbol for the Emperor, dragons are held in the highest regard. Among modern Chinese, babies born in the year of the dragon are especially sought after.

    The Year of the Dragon began on January 23, 2012. New Year celebrations last for 15 days, ending with the Lantern Festival on February 6.
